The new online search tool combines simple search access (providing easy and immediate information on local Trademarks) with an advanced search option functionality allowing users to run more complex, detailed searches as may be required. Summarily, the new online trademark register allows users to:

  • Retrieve or verify the status of trademark application/s by running a simple ‘quick search’ of the register on the basis of a ‘Trademark Number’ or ‘Trademark Name’;
  • Open the same Trademark in TMview (the EUIPO’s online search tool reltive to EU trademarks) by a touch of a button;
  • Easily renew a Malta Trademark online whenever a Trademark is due for renewal;
  • Access the national online register from any device (whether accessed from PC, mobile or tablet, the website will adjust according to screen size and orientation).

Moreover, the ‘National Trademarks Register’ search tool now effectively allows trademark owners and/or applicants to obtain and print a free-of-charge ‘extract’ of their Trademark, provided of course that this will be uncertified.

The ‘National Trademarks Register’ may be accessed from the Commerce Department’s IP E-services portal available at www.ips.gov.mt.
